Silica for Defoamers
FINE-SIL517 silica particles can enhance the defoaming effect of defoaming agents. In defoamer products, the defoaming effect needs to be strengthened by silica particles. Silica particles are carried by silicone oil to the air-water interface of foam and enter the bubble liquid film. Due to their hydrophobicity, the contact angle with surfactant foam droplets is greater than 90°, forcing the foaming liquid to drain away from the surface of solid hydrophobic particles, causing rapid local liquid drainage of foam and resulting in rupture. Thus, due to the synergistic effect, the two components produce a good defoaming effect. It is widely used in defoaming agents.
